should prostitution b legalized or not??? Share your opinions...

farehah..

my opinion..its shouldn't b legaliez...u know wat..its some country we have their own religion. for example Malaysia, we have many culture, religion and so on..prostitution should not b the main thing in our society..its a bad habit for life..so how about u all guys..didn'n u have the same opinion with me or not..??

fadzlia..

hmm....how yea??for me,its same with u farehah..its shouldn't b legalized...it can make bad thingking to our country specially muslim country..

sompit..

ok...if u all say its shouldn't b legalized..yea,its same..for ur info women its not a thing that used for have sexual hapines only..women is a human..human being, need a love,a family,a whole thing that nature being for its self..

Nesa selvi...

Wel,,i Respect al your opinions my dear frens especially my Muslim frens,I understand your concern....however....to me I rather have something that is controlable than letting it spread uncontrolably...Government can consider legalizing prostitution like what Singapore did.....When its legalize we can control the spread of STD such as AIDS,HIV and so on by ensuring all the prostitutes to go for medical check up regularly...n tis can reduce unwanted pregnancy miscarriage.....Besides that....we can also reduce the no. of rape cases....The reason why I say this is because those who are seeking for sex can go to the "RIGHT PLACE" instead of raping their own children or siblings....By legalizing,we can reduce it...

Hayati...

Yes Nesa....I think I agree with you..Thou its against our religion,,,,but I rather have those who willingly

how to reduce..

farehah..

hye,my dear frenz...how we can reduce the prostitution..??may b its impossible to do but as a human of this society..we dont want prostitution become the king of sex in our society..its not a good thing, when we all know there r many effect can b due to this..so, In its stage 1 report on the bill the Local Government and Transport Committee said that it supports the broad aims of the bill - tackling the nuisance and offence caused to communities by street prostitution - but wants key amendments made. The committee is concerned that the bill would criminalise soliciting and those "loitering for the purposes of prostitution", but that loitering in a private car would not be an offence. This, the committee states, is unacceptable.

sompit..

ermmm..yea its so impossible how to reduce the prostitution..as we all known prevent is better than cure..so we must prevent the thing that lead more to prostitude..such as sexual abuse cases and so on.
To me,we can reduce prostitution by tightening the current law that is being practiced. For eg, the punishment should be heavier for those whom trying to buy sex especially illegally. These
are the people whom contributing to the increment of the number of prostitution.

Fadzlia

Wel, its not easy to reduce prostitution . However , I think we can do it by providing more awareness programme to public on the consequences of free sex....such as explain to them about the sexually transmitted diseases, history of breakdown family due to visiting prostitutesand so on......this will help the public to be aware on these issue.

Hayati

Hi frens....wow,,you al have so many ideas....I feel that Moral Education is the basic thing that we should look into. If the basic foundation is good, i think we can prevent a lot of thing and not only prostitution. Early childhood parenting plays a very important role in grooming an individual.
This will give them the skills on how to view things that happening around them and how learn the good ones and forgo the bad ones......

Nesa Selvi

Halo everybody,I absolutely agree with all your views and opinions. I feel that its not easy to stop something that have been there since ancient time....However we can take some precaution measures to reduce them....Hmmm....Wel first of all...wat we have been seeing in our country is more prostitutes from China,Indonesia,Vietnam,Philipines n so on...But I wont deny that there malaysian prostitutes too but in small number...So to me ..if we control the entrance of illegal immigrant,,,,,I think we can control a lot of social problems that occurs in our country...
Secondly,,,I feel that a lot of prostitutes formed due to circumstances,,e,,,after running away from home due to sexual abuse and then realise that need to find a way to earn living..they end up in prostitution as a last resource. So If the public or the goverment were to prepare or provide an alternative job opportunities to these victims,,,it will help them to lead a better lifestyle rather than getting involve in prostitutionnn...

effect..

hayati..
so,how about the effect of being prostitude..??for me,there are many effect..It breaks down the spirit of a person, who must submit to this form of degredation. No one WANTS to be a prostitute! Families are broke up when husbands visit prostitutes and the wife finds out. A prostitute may give her "John" a social disease and when discovered, the partner of this person has to be notified and will cause a break up in thier relationship.Prostitutes often communicate diseases such as venereal disease, aides, hepetitus - (needle sharing, drug addicts), herpes, gonorhea, syphliss, and a host of others...They are known to rob thier "Johns", sometimes even killing them, in thier desperation for cash, or drugs. They are continually "busted" and fill the jails up, and have to be housed. Some are on Welfare and make this for extra money. Either way, they become a burdon on Society as a whole, both as a liability and as a detriment to tourist, and patrons of certain areas where people will not frequent because they are known to be there.

fadzlia..
ha..many effect can b due when being prostitude..
The cause...men feeling natural sexual desire, and not being able to find what they want among wives or women friends, so they go to a pro.The effect...prostitution is considered immoral and illegal in most areas, so as a covert enterprise all kinds of shady criminal characters get involved, the prostitutes get abused and exposed to a lot of weirdos and danger and disease.
the cause is money most prostitutes r from poverty n have drug habits. its easy money for them but its extremely dangerous and illegal.the effect it brings crime n drugs around the area even more and pupil go to jail disease rate goes up. crime rate because a lot of pupil kill or rip off prostitutes. so guys any idea..??wat other effect can b...

sompit..
ermm.. the causes can be poverty. Sometimes prostitution is forced, for instance young girls read in the newspaper that they can go to neighbouring countries to dance in clubs, once they are there they are misstreatedm their passports are taken away, and they are forced to do things they wouldn't in normal circumstances. The effects can be diseases ( not if you use right condoms ) , for the prostitutes despression... Some prostitutes are also addicted to drugs, because when they are depressed they take drugs
In some societies families sell a child into prostitution. The child is honor bound to the contract and prostitution is the main target of such sales. The movie about a Geisha recently showed how this works in Japan . It is also the same situation in Korea . Immigrants to the USA are often bound to repay the people who smuggle them across the border.Drugs also contribute to prostitution. It may be for some an attractive way to make a living. I am sure it has its moments. But, probably in most of its forms is not the happiest of choices. I think the main effect is the violence associated with it. In places where it is legal I don't know that this exists. It is big money so gangsters take an interest in it.

farehah..
hye...wat effect can i say ha..acctualy may b all the effect has been wrote just wanna let u all know that it also can affect the society..Prostitution effects our society in many ways. Prostitutions is more then just a sexual related crime and can actually lead to more crimes and violence on the streets. Prostitution began many centuries ago as a way for women to earn money. Saloons used to be known for their beautiful women and liquor. Over the years prostitution has become a threat to our society.Prostitutes are seen for the ability to give men and women a good time by offering sexual favors for money or gifts. Prostitutes used to be women selling their bodies for money. Today there are men and women prostitutes. And they sell their bodies for many reasons other then money. Drugs are becoming a common currency for prostitutes.Unfortunately, when purchasing a prostitute, many buyers don't think about the serious consequences that come with street sex. Sexually transmitted disease, infidelity, violence, thefts and many crimes take place with the average prostitute exchange.

EFFECT
Hi to all.......wel wat else there for me to share....I agree with all your opinion. To me,,I view the effect of prostitution in two different perspective. One is the effect to the prostitute themselve n the other will the effect to others/society/nation.Effect on prostitutes will be as what all of you have mentioned such as emotional health consequences, severe trauma, stress, depression and so on.Effects to the nation will be:If the protitution spread uncontrolabbly, the disease will spread too, if the disease spreads, the standard of health will drop n this will effect the country's reputation and tourism and economy too.

The Factors..

fadzlia.
dear fren, the factor of being prostitude..
ermm..got the idea??..there are many cause, some of them is believe prostitution is an exciting and glamorous lifestyle. Myths about prostitution are built on sexual fantasies promoted by movies, television, and books. Pornography is a major contributing factor prostitution disillusionment. Many young women are lured into prostitution by promises of glamor and riches. But, in reality, they suffer pain, humiliation, and degradation at the hands of pimps and customers. Many times these young women are left alone and penniless to face sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.
People that prostitute themselves become wealthy. This is, again, another myth. Most, if not all, of the earnings from prostitution are taken by a pimp or madame. Lives are controlled, and incomes are guarded by the pimps. The strategy for control is maintained by pimps keeping their prostitutes dependent on them to survive.
so how about u all guys..get smthin else..

farehah..
hye...yea..i do agree with u..many factor of being prostitude..how bout if they have a lots of reasons: Because they Love sex and money... Because they are talked into it or forced into it by someone else ... Because they are trying to support an addiction... Because having started prostituting themselves they don't know how to get out of it... Because they have no other way to survive..so..its not only from their fault may be it become the side factor why they become prostitude..so..we shouldn't blame on them..

sompit.
hye all..that rite farehah..there a lot of because why they become like that. Some significant differences found between the samples of prostitutes and the samples of normal women were that the prostitute samples, on the whole, learned less about sex from parents and more from personal experiences, as children experienced more sexual advances by elders, were more victimized by incest, generally initiated sexual activity at a younger age, more often had no further relationship with their first coital partner, and experienced a higher incidence of rape. The analysis of these data on early sexual history concentrates on abusive sexual experiences such as incest and rape. to believe that an abusive sexual self-identity relates to the development of an adult female pattern of occupational deviance such as prostitution..

hayati.
for me..wat i say is so simple as u all view about the factor of being prostitution..just to let know that Prostitution has never been without stereotypes and myths. There are many reasons why young girls find themselves exploited by prostitution and pimps. It can be a personal tragedy, drug addiction, or the lure of money, lots of money.
Some people view prostitution as an expression of sexuality, or use it to escape from unhappy and sexless relationships. Society seems to believe men have uncontrollable sexual urges that need to be fulfilled. This myth justifies prostitution. Young prostitutes are thrown into a world of degradation, violence and disease. Many turn to drugs as a way to mask feelings in order to perform the acts demanded. Participation often leaves them physically and mentally damaged.
Another myth is that prostitution may be considered a crime, but there are no victims. Prostitution and pornography allows crimes to be done on men, women and children, by turning abuse into a commercial enterprise. Customers use juveniles for their own sexual gratification, which in actuality, is child sexual abuse. Pimps assault prostitutes by forcing them to engage in sadomasochistic sex scenes, and exploits their demands on t hem as a condition of employment. Most sexual acts happen by the prostitute's compliance rather than consent. Money paid for this abuse, rape and battery does not negate the fact that it was allowed to happen.

THE FACTORS THAT LEAD TO PROSTITUTION...

NESA SELVI G76729

Dear frens, its time for us to look into the factor that lead a person into prostitution......there are no one specific factors that contribute it but many factors lead to it.
• POVERTY- A reason why children are sold into commercial sex but it’s not the only reason. However it does play a significant role. Families are sometimes pushed to desperate lengths when some trigger factors such as death of a breadwinner, natural disaster, displacement, conflicts or sickness adds to the already intolerable burden of poverty. Poverty becomes a determinant factor when it exists alongside ignorance or greed, opportunity or coercion, conflict, loss, consumer pressures, migration and urbanization and discrimination.
• IGNORANCE- Message of education about sexuality is weak or overpowered by much stronger contrary messages from media, traditional practice or societal behavior. The ignorant not only of the health risk but also the severe psychological long term.
• CONSUMER AND PEER PRESSURE- One more factor that push children and young people into prostitution. The media reinforcing consumer pressure on youngsters to earn money to buy the latest gadgets or cloths but also in contributing to competition among young people.(eg: wear/own what their peers do). Can be decisive force in pushing them to earn money whatever the cost.
• TRADITIONAL EXCUSES- Sexual exploitation of children are culturally or historically condoned or even encouraged.(eg: In communities where children are put into sexual servitude to religious or tribal elders in atonement for adult wrongdoings, in payment of debt or traditional or religious duties(eg: In Vietnam, the presence of large number of foreign military personnel in the 1960s and 1970s increased demand for commercial sex services and introduced more liberal attitudes to sex. When the troop went home, the country was left significantly developed commercial sex sector and heightened in the local communities.
• WHEN PROTECTION MECHANISM BREAKDOWN-Victim who are sexually abused by someone in their own family or circle of friends are extremely vulnerable to sexual exploitation outside the family too or later in life. Sometimes, sexual abuse by parents or relatives drives young people out of the family home and onto the streets, where the need to survive makes them vulnerable to pimps, traffickers, drug peddlers and other manipulators.

definition...

farehah-G76341
hye all..our topic is prostitution..many of us had their own definition on this topic..
Prostitution is the act or practice of engaging in sex acts for hire. While prostitution is legal or tolerated in some cultures, it is illegal or socially discouraged in others. Motivations for suppression can vary significantly, from basic moral repugnance to concerns about the effects on society and on those who practice it, as well as whether it is an exploitative practice. In most cultures the prostitutes (the persons who sell sexual servicies) are socially stigmatized; their customers less so. The word "prostitution" can also be used metaphorically to mean debasement or working towards an unworthy cause..

Definition

Nesa Selvi Narayanasamy G76729

Dear Frenz, I would like share my opinion with all of you regarding prostitution but before that allow me to define the word "prostitution "itself. From the Latin, "prostituere" meaning "to cause to stand in front of". The implication is that one is offering one's body for sale. Prostitution is the sale of sexual activity for money or goods of value such as drugs. In Colloquial usage, the word "prostitute" is something generalised the mean of selling one's services for a cause thought to be unworthy,in the sense of "prostituting oneself" or "whoring oneself".From my reading on this topic, I discovered that prostitution is called the worlds oldest profession for good reason. It can be traced at least to ancient Mesopotamia, where the temple prostitution flourished. The Greek Historian Herodotus noted that all women in the city were expected to put in some time at the temple. They would offer their bodies to passing strangers, who would make "religious' donation.

noor fadzlia - G76188

PROSTITUTION - The giving or receiving of the body for sexual activity for hire but excludes sexual activity between spouses. (Fla. Statutes '94) Performing for hire, or offering or agreeing to perform for hire where there is an exchange of value, any of the following acts: Sexual intercourse; sodomy, or; manual or other bodily contact stimulation of the genitals of any person with the intent to arouse or gratify the sexual desires of the offender or another.(Kansas Statutes '95)

sompit - G75838
i aggre with all my fren, for me its so simple..prostitution is an Engaging in sexual activity for compensation. Lowering in value, dignity, class, and so on.

hayati - G 76205
me also agree with all the defition in this topic. The term "prostitution" generally means the commission by a person of any natural or unnatural sexual act, deviate sexual intercourse, or sexual contact for monetary consideration or other thing of value.
